Summer in Italy has never been just about the destination. It is about the lifestyle.

The choice is simple.Do you follow the waves?Or do you chase the mountains?

Sea or summit. Surf or trekking.

Linen shirt or technical jacket.

In Italy, both worlds exist side by side — and both require the same essential ingredient:

Style.

Because looking good while doing nothing has always been an Italian speciality.

But looking good while moving, exploring and experiencing life? That is the real summer art form.

Across the coastlines, surfing has moved far beyond a sport. It represents a mindset: freedom, adventure and a refusal to live entirely by the clock. The surf aesthetic has returned again and again because it represents something people are searching for — simplicity, nature and a slower rhythm.

The surf world understands that the outfit is part of the experience.

The right board shorts.

The perfect sunglasses.

The faded T-shirt that looks better after ten years.

The effortless appearance of someone who just stepped out of the ocean — even if they spent twenty minutes trying to balance on the board.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the Italian landscape, the mountains offer a completely different kind of luxury.

Silence.

Space.

Perspective.

The hiking boot has become as important as the designer sneaker. Technical clothing has moved from the trail to the city, proving that function and fashion are no longer enemies.

But there is also a reminder that nature demands respect.

Recently, the mountaineering community mourned the loss of climbers who dedicate their lives to the highest peaks, including tragic accidents on Everest. The mountains remain beautiful, but they are never simply a backdrop for an Instagram moment.

They require humility.

Perhaps that is why walking has become the ultimate summer statement.

No extreme equipment.

No performance obsession.

Just a good pair of shoes, comfortable clothes and the willingness to explore.

“The Most Stylish Sport? Knowing When to Slow Down”

Maybe the most stylish person on the beach isn’t the one with the latest surf kit.

Maybe it’s the person walking along the coastline at sunset.

Maybe the real luxury is climbing a path in the Dolomites, stopping for a coffee, and enjoying the view without needing to conquer anything.

Summer has always sold us the idea that we need more.

More equipment.

More experiences.

More achievements.

But perhaps the new summer luxury is knowing what you actually need.

A mountain path.

A sea breeze.

A beautiful landscape.

A comfortable outfit.

And enough energy left to enjoy the season.

Because whether you are riding waves in Portugal, walking through Italian villages or exploring mountain trails, one thing remains true:

Summer sports never go out of fashion.

They simply change shape.

And sometimes, the most fashionable thing you can do is simply keep walking.

Leonardo Fioravanti and the rise of a new generation of ocean icons
